The American League wild card is even crazier than the National League.  The three leaders in the wild card race have identical records to the three leaders in the National League with one huge difference.

The Tigers had a game rained out (I think Thursday) and have played one less game than the other two teams.  If this game has any playoff ramifications, it will have to be made up on Monday.

The Tigers are playing the Braves and Toronto is playing Boston so a tie is a very real possibility.  If there is a three way tie, the Tigers will have the craziest schedule in the history of baseball.  I may have it wrong but they will have to play four teams in four cities in four days.
  1. Sunday -- Atlanta
  2. Monday -- Cleveland (makeup game)
  3. Tuesday -- Toronto (tiebreaker)
  4. Wednesday -- Baltimore (wild card game)
This scenario may be the simple one.  There is a mathematical possibility of a 4-way tie for the wild card.  I will let the baseball nerds figure that one out.

There are just too many possible scenarios in the American League for me list them.  There are still four teams vying for the two wild card spots.  With the Tigers probable makeup game on Monday, the outcome may not be known until the Monday makeup game is complete.

Here is link explaining the numerous possibilities.
