For those of you that do court work, what does your fee schedule look like?

I charge $350 per half day, usually I am gone before 10:00 to 10:30 a.m.

I bet I make more than those that charge by the hour...the hourly rate should be $125 to $150, plus travel time.

Does anyone have a three hour minimum?

I only make myself available outside my office on one day a week.  My minimum fee (total of all assignments) is $2500, or I don't leave home.  If they want me they will have to pay a minimum of $2500 to get me to venture away from my desk.  There are weeks where my daily inspection gross nears $10000 a day.  I don't have time to monkey with no attorneys.

I was thinking $125/hr with a 3 hour minimum.  Doesn't sound like I'd be too far off.

I don't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day.  But then again, I'm a super model.  [cool]

Question is do you ever go to court...I have been several times; once on a tax appeal...fees are pretty good and you do not have an AMC calling twice a day...Do you go to court?

I got paid $1200 for a canceled court appearance.  I have also been stiffed by attorneys and clients for prep-time and consultation time prior to court.  The client didn't want to pay me to appear, lost their case and never paid me a nickle.  Their case was easily winnable, he was just cheap and stupid.

Back when I used to do this a lot, I would charge an up front flat fee of $500 which included prep, travel and either a morning or afternoon session of court, usually only about 3 hours or so. If it needed to extend to an additional session, I would then start billing $100/hour. My last time in court was in 2010, so $125 might be appropriate today. But the flat fee made it easier for the attorney and they didn't have to feel rushed to get you in and out. I considered offering a flat fee which included the full day, but most attorneys could usually narrow it down to a specific session.

Those fees are too small now with appraisal fees $450 - $500 a pop.  For the hassle of going to court I would charge no less than double what I could make appraising that day and I would consider 2 appraisals a day typical.. So double 1 appraisal fee for a half day.

The problem with sears, pennys and kmart is that the stores are old and the side of town they are on has changed demographics significantly.... They didn't follow the growth, they stayed in their anchor positions.... They accepted rental discounts which made them the landlord's b!tch.

GM, Ford, Chrystler were making inferior products.  They knew it..... You can only slap a cadillac badge on a celebrity for so long until the world finds out you are charging premium prices for economy cars.  Dodge was just junk..... Ford made quality products and look.... They didn't need a bailout.

$500 appearance fee plus $200 per hour.  I try to price myself out of that kind of work.  My lender business is a well oiled machine and taking time to satisfy a judge or lawyers doesn't jive w/ my scheduling tactics.

I have only had to go 3 times for divorce and 2 times for foreclosures. The one time an attorney stiffed me the lady (that I did the appraisals for) paid me $100 per month for an entire year. I got lucky. Her last payment was due around Christmas, I knew she had small children and I told her she was paid up. She still sent that last $100. She was a class act, her husband was just an ass. Ugly divorce, in the papers etc

Dude.... Locked inside?????

Didn't you hear about that Real Estate agent in Anderson SC?

You shouldn't let folks lock you in anything... Bad stuff happens and they will then want you to rub some lotion on its skin.

I had no issues with them....He just locked his wife out...I was not locked in with a key...just a thumb knob....it was interesting because his parents were there camped out in the front yard and his EX was on the other side with her friend.
