US people pay more for health care, die sooner than people in other developed countries

health-care

From Our World in Data: "The US stands out as an outlier: the US spends far more on health than any other country, yet the life expectancy of the American population is not longer but actually shorter than in other countries that spend far less."

Why?

"[A]dministrative costs in the health sector are higher in the US than in other countries"

"[L]arge inequality in health spending.... The top 5% of spenders accounts for almost half of all health care spending in the US."

Even doctors live shorter lives than their patients.

It would be interesting to determine how they calculate life expediency.  I am 72 and am expected to live until 89-92.  The problem with life expectancy is that calculations are made from DOB.  We have too many murders that count.  50,000 soldiers died in Vietnam.  I have no idea how many died in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other small wars.  These are all included which is rubbish.

What is the life expectancy of s 60-year old.  That is a much better measure.  I will bet that, a 60-year old has a longer life expectancy in the USA than anywhere else.

I can fit statistics to just about any result I want.  We pay more for health care because we pretty much don't pay anything.  Medicare is a joke.  I have not paid a dime for any health care for seven years.  Expenses are probably higher than they would be if I paid the bill myself.
